Surplus year after year
May there always be a little to spare.
Surplus year after year
Fish, yu, sounds like a word for surplus. A fish in New Year decoration can express the wish nian nian you yu: abundance year after year.
Inside this paper pattern
A swimming carp curves from its broad head towards a slender tail. Openings adapted from the original koi markings give the body a flowing rhythm.
A wish to give
Choose a paper color and take your time with the openings. Export your finished piece as a keepsake or share it with someone you care about. Meanings in folk art vary by place and occasion; the wish you add can be personal.
