Good fortune
A little blessing takes flight.
Good fortune
The Chinese word for bat, fu, echoes the word for blessing. That sound association makes bats auspicious motifs; this design features one bat, not the five-bat composition.
Inside this paper pattern
Broad scalloped wings stretch from a small body with pointed ears. Curved wing openings and a pair of tiny eyes distinguish the bat from a bird.
A wish to give
Choose a paper color and take your time with the openings. Export your finished piece as a keepsake or share it with someone you care about. Meanings in folk art vary by place and occasion; the wish you add can be personal.
